About Us
Our Story
Taverna Birdland was founded in the ’60s in Lova di Campagna Lupia, in the province of Venice, as a meeting place for fishermen and hunters. Since then, this historic trattoria–pizzeria has become a reference point for those seeking a typical Venetian spot to enjoy dishes prepared like in the old days. The management has always been family-run: today, Moreno, his wife Mariagrazia, and their son Francesco carry on the tradition with passion, supported by a close-knit and professional staff.
The name “Birdland” is a tribute to the nature of the area: here, among the lagoon valleys, it’s easy to spot herons, flamingos, and other migratory birds, making the area ideal for birdwatching and cycling tourism. The restaurant has grown over time, without ever losing its identity: a homemade cuisine made of Venetian recipes, artisanal pizzas baked in a wood-fired oven, conviviality, and attention to detail. Here, every dish has a story to tell.
Our Culinary Philosophy
We aim to offer authentic and genuine dishes made with seasonal ingredients through artisanal processes. We preserve the knowledge of traditional Venetian cuisine, bringing all the flavors of our land to the table. On the menu, you’ll find fish, selected meats, local game, local vegetables, vegetarian options, and many proposals designed to enhance the quality of the raw materials.
Every preparation requires time, care, and attention to create dishes made with love. Even the pizzas are special: baked in a wood-fired oven and available with alternative doughs like whole wheat, rice, or turmeric. Our trattoria, about halfway between Padua and Chioggia, is the ideal place for those who love good food in a welcoming environment and an informal atmosphere. We have a room available for rent for parties and small private events, and ample parking.
